The paintings of Northern Europe from the mid 1500’s through the 1700’s inspire and guide me. I am a realist painter working from life whose focus is the beautiful. I want to provide the viewer with a moment of beauty that, hopefully, is uplifting.
I value craftsmanship in technigue, strong composition, subtle narrative and the creation of a contemporary statement. The subject of a painting whether the figure or any of the many objects that surround us, becomes more important when caught at a particular moment in a specific composition.
